TANCET Exam is state specific common entrance test conducted for admission to MBA, MCA and M.Tech programmes of study. This exam is also used for admission to M.Plan and M.Arch courses. Administered by Anna University Chennai on behalf of Tamilnadu government, this exam has also gained accepted among government colleges and institutes of Tamilnadu. Few other private engineering self finance colleges also have started accepting TANCET scores for admission. This paper pencil test has also been accepted by Chennai university for admission its programme.

Eligibility:-
For MBA
Educational Qualification: Applicants who have completed their graduation in any discipline are eligible to apply. Final year degree students awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.
For MCA
Educational Qualification: Applicants who have completed their graduation in any discipline with mathematics as one of the subjects at intermediate or graduate level. Final year degree students awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.
For M.Tech/M.E
Educational Qualification: B.Tech and B.E graduate in respective disciplines are eligible to apply. Final year degree students awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.
For M.Arch/ M.Plan
Educational Qualification: Candidates with a bachelors degree in planning and architecture are eligible to apply. Final year degree students awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.
How to Apply:-
Application forms for TANCET are available online as well as can also be obtained by post by writing and sending a DD to the Secretary TANCET, which is payable at Chennai. Please note that the demand draft must be drawn from nationalized bank. The filled in application forms must be sent to Anna University before the last date for submission for the same. While filling in the application form make sure that you have attached all the necessary documents requested in the application form.
Application Form:
The application fee for TANCET exam for general category and OBC candidates is Rs 500. The application fee for SC/ST candidates is Rs 250. Candidates wishing to appear for more than one exam are required to pay an additional application fee for the exam.

XAT online application form for the exam is available on XAT official website. If you intend to apply for the exam the first step for the same is XAT registration. After completion of intial registration you will be issued a XAT ID through email. So the next time you will be allowed to login with your Login ID and password. Following is a step by step procedure for applying for XAT Exam.
• STEP 01: Login with your XAT ID and password and fill in details in the XAT online registration form.
• STEP 02: Make payment of fee. There are three accepted modes of fee payment viz
a. Online payment gateway
b. Cash payment
c. Demand draft
(Please note that if you are making payment through mode b or c you are required to enter details in the registration form. If you fail to do so you will not be able to proceed to the next stage of registration)
• STEP 03: You are required to upload your photograph and signature.
• STEP 04: Take a printout of XAT confirmation page.
• STEP 05: If you have made payment of application fee by cash or DD you are required to send DD or cash challan along with confirmation page to the following address

Applicants who have made payment of application fee online need not send confirmation page. In case of payment through DD candidates are required to send the same within 15 days from the date of issuance.

There is no prescribed XAT syllabus for the exam. However the components and topics of the various sections of the syllabus is formed on the basis of trends and topics in previous year exam papers. The XAT paper pattern has undergone several changes in the past five years. Based on the same there are a number of topics lined up for components of maths, data interpretation and logical reasoning. Different from other management test in India the XAT paper also includes a separate essay writing and general awareness section.
