KVS Admission 2015 Guidelines, Eligibility, Admission Procedure

Kendriya Vidyalayas are central government schools established and directed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India.  These schools cater to the educational needs of children of transferable central government employees both in India and abroad as well as children of defense and paramilitary personnel. KVS has been at the heart of innovation and experimentation aiming at excellence and setting pace in the field of education.

Kendriya Vidyalaya admission is conducted every academic year for admission from Class I to X. KVS schools in India follow a uniform circullum as well as uniformed scheme for admission. KVS schools are all bound by the same. Following is detailed guide for KVS Admission 2014 with important dates, priorities in admission, eligibility, admission guidelines.

PRIORITIES IN ADMISSION

The following priorities shall be followed in KVS Admission 2015:-     
  
(A) KENDRIYA VIDYALAYAS UNDER CIVIL/DEFENCE SECTOR:

PRIORITY IN ADMISSION WILL BE PROVIDED TO-

• Children of transferable and non-transferable central government employees and children of ex- servicemen.  This will also include children of foreign national officials, who come on deputation or transfer to India on invitation by Government of India.
• Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of  Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector Undertaking/Institute of Higher Learning of the Government of India.
• Children of transferable and non-transferable State Government employees.
• Children of transferable and non-transferable employees of Autonomous Bodies/ Public Sector Undertakings/Institute of Higher Learning of State Governments.
• Children from any other category including the children of foreign nationals who are located in India due to their work or for any personal reasons.

The Children of Foreign Nationals would be considered only if there are no Indian Nationals on the waitlist for admission.

Note: Preference in Admission for children will be based on number of transfers in the last seven years.

(B)   KENDRIYA VIDYALAYAS UNDER PUBLIC SECTOR UNDERTAKINGS/ INSTITUTES OF HIGHER LEARNING:

PRIORITY IN ADMISSION WILL BE PROVIDED-

• Children and grandchildren of employees of the Public Sector Undertakings/Institutes of Higher learning who are sponsors of Vidyalaya.
• Children of project employees & Post Graduate students who are working on long term research projects.
• Children of regular Council of Wardens (COW) employees.

Children and Grand Children of retired employees to be included in category I for the purpose of admission.

1.  The priorities criteria for Kendriya Vidyalayas under Civil/Defence Sectors (Para 3 (A)) will follow in the same sequence, thereafter.
2. Children of employees of Institutes of Higher learning who had to discontinue school to accompany parents going out of station on sabbatical leave/long leave, over and above the class strength.

 

Eligibility for KVS Admissions 2015:


Age:-


A Child must be 5 years old as on 31st March in the academic year in which admission is sought for Class I.(Children born on 1st April shall also be considered.)

The minimum and maximum age limit for admission in Kendriya Vidyalayas in various classes is given below:

The maximum age limit can be relaxed by two years in case of physically challenged children by the Principal.

There is no age restriction for admission to Class XI provided the student is seeking admission in the year of passing Class X examination. Similarly, there will be no upper & lower age limit for admission to class XII provided there has been no break in the continuous study of the student after passing class X/XI.

Reservations:

 
SCHEDULE CASTE AND SCHEDULE TRIBE CATEGORY:-  15% seats for Scheduled Caste and 7.5% seats for Scheduled Tribes shall be reserved in all fresh admissions in all Kendriya Vidyalayas.

PHYSICALLY HANDICAPED CATEGORY:- 3% seats of total available seats for fresh admission will be horizontally reserved for Differently Abled-children, visually challenged, orthopedically and hearing impaired etc.

ADMISSION FOR CLASS X AND XII

Admissions to class X & XII for students other than those from Kendriya Vidyalaya, will be entertained subject to availability of vacancies. Such admissions to class X and XII will be considered by the concerned Deputy Commissioner of the Region. This is applicable if the average strength in class X/XII is below 40.

Admission for Class X and XII will be subject to the following conditions:    

I) The child has been in the same course of studies i.e. in a CBSE-affiliated school. 

ii) The child must have obtained not less than 6.5 CGPA in class IX (CGPA be calculated as per formula applied by CBSE in class X). For admission to class XII 55% marks in class XI examination is mandatory.
   
iii) The child should OTHERWISE be eligible as per KVS admission guidelines.

iv)  The combinations of subjects opted by the student are available on Kendriya Vidyalaya’s website.

Hyderabad University PhD Eligibility:


Candidates who have the required qualifications and are  doing teaching/research in recognized institutions or researchers from companies registered with STPI/NASSCOM/Central Government Organizations who  38 operate within the jurisdiction of the University can apply for part time admission subject to the availability of seats under this category.

Hyderabad University PhD Selection Procedure:


Admission is based on entrance test.

Osmania University PhD Admission 2014-15 Notification | Entrance Exam Date | Eligibility |

Osmania University awards PhD degree in faculties of arts, commerce, management, education, law, social science, oriental languages, science and technology, pharmacy,engineering, informatics and other allied branches. Applicants with a post graduate degree in regular or distance mode from recognized university or institute are eligible to apply. Admission is based on entrance test followed by interview. Awardees of research fellowship namely UGC CSIR, ICMR and ICAR and GATE/SLET and UGC CSIR NET qualified candidates are exempted from appearing for the entrance test.

Osmania University PhD Eligibility Criteria:


Post-Graduate Degree, from a recognized University or a Post Graduate Degree through Distance mode from a recognized university and approved by the Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi, in the concerned subject or in an allied subject approved by the Osmania University are eligible to apply. The minimum aggregate for candidates is 55 percent or equivalent CGPA (50 percent in case of SC/ST candidates).

Osmania University PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection will be made through  Ph.D Eligibility Test.

However, the following categories are exempted from appearing the OU Ph.D. eligibility test:

a) Those who are awarded research fellowship in a National Level Test namely UGC/CSIR (JRF), ICMR, ICAR Research Fellowship Test.
b) those who are UGC/CSIR NET or GATE, SLET qualified,
c) those who hold M.Phil degree in regular mode from any recognized University in the concerned subject or an allied subject approved by Osmania University , and
d) those who hold M.E/M.Tech /M.Pharm. degree.

Madras University PhD Admission 2014-15 Notification | Entrance Exam Date | Eligibility |

Following is the categories of candidates registered for Madras University PhD Programmes

01. Full Time Scholar (with or without stipend)
02. Part Time Scholar (teacher or non teacher, internal vis external)

Candidates under both categories are successfully awarded PhD degree based on original and independent research in particular discipline of study. Registrations for Madras University PhD may be done any time during the year but is suitable that candidates submit their applications on or before the first working days of quarter that is in the months of January,April, July and October. Admission is based on entrance test conducted by the university.

Duration:-

3 years for Full Time
4 years for Part Time

An exemption of one year is granted to candidates who posses an M.Phil/M.Phil on interdisciplinary basis or a M.Litt in relevant subject. Candidates with a Master degree in law or M.Tech or M.E are also granted exemption of one year.

Madras University PhD Eligibility Criteria:


Master’s Degree with 55% marks in the qualifying examination. For SC/ST candidates and for candidates who have completed the PG degree before 1991, the minimum aggregate is 50 percent.


Madras University PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection will be done through entrance test conducted by the university

Candidates with fellowship from the UGC, CSIR / Project Fellow appointed in the major research project from funding agency / and teachers working in affiliated colleges are exempted from appearing for entrance test.

BITS Pilani PhD Eligibility Criteria:


Any Higher Degree of BITS or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

Any applicant with qualification equivalent to Integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one of the higher degree programmes of the Institute. Such candidates may first be admitted to the M.E./M.Phil. programmes offered by the Institute subject to the eligibility conditions.

BITS Pilani PhD Selection Procedure:


Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test/interview. Selected candidates will be given financial assistance in the form of either a fellowship of any government agency or of the Institute, project or teaching assistantship, full/partial tuition waiver or a combination of these. Such selected candidates will be required to participate in teaching and any other developmental activities of the Institute under the guidance of a mentor.

Jawaharlal Nehru University features in prominent list of best PhD universities in India. The university's following schools of learning offer Phd programmes in various interdisciplinary as well as allied subjects. Mumbai University PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection procedure consists of entrance exam conducted by Mumbai University (PET).

Candidates fulfilling one of the following criteria shall be exempted from Ph.D. entrance test (PET).

a) Qualified in GATE / SET / NET / (JRF) Examination / teacher fellowship holder of the apex bodies as CSIR / UGC / ICAR / ICMR / DBT only

Syllabus:-

Mumbai University PhD syllabus shall consist of  various topics included in the compulsory / core papers at Post

Graduate Degree level in the respective subjects of University of Mumbai.

b) Pattern of Question Paper:-

The question paper will consist of three types of questions

Objective - forty (40)marks,
Short answers - thirty (30) marks 
Long answers - thirty (30) marks.

c)Standard of Passing:- Candidates securing fifty (50) or more marks in entrance test will be declared as successful and eligible to apply for admission process.

Pune University PhD Admission 2014-15 Notification | Entrance Exam Date | Eligibility |

The University of Pune offers research degree programmes in interdisciplinary subjects. According to the stipulations of Pune University PhD Admission a candidate shall work in a recognized place of research this includes a university department, research institute, or an affiliate college of the university.Pune University PhD admission is based on entrace test conducted by the university. Candidates with a valid scores in national level competitive examinations like GATE, GPAT, SET/NET/JRF and SRF fellowship programmes are exempted from appearing for the entrance test.

Pune University PhD Eligibility Criteria:


a)Post Graduate Degree(Master Degree) qualification with at least 50% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average(GPA).

b) Post-Graduate Degree (Master Degree) in law with atleast 55 marks or equivalent grade point average (GPA).

c) 5% relaxation for reserve category students of Maharashtra State only.

Pune University PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection will be based on entrance test conducted by the university.

Exemption from appearing for Written Test:-

i.Qualified candidates of  GATE/GPAT/SET/NET/JRF/SRF Examinations of apex bodies such as CSIR/UGC/ICRA/ICMR/DBT and DST inspire fellowship only.

ii. M. Phil degree completed from any Statutory Recognized University in a relevant subject.

Indian Institute of Science is known for its integrated PhD programmes in Biological Sciences, Chemical and physical sciences, mathematic sciences and other allied disciplines. Candidates with a bachelors degree in relevant discipline are eligible to apply. IISc Phd Admission is based on the performance in any of the national or state level tests followed by interview conducted by the institute.

IISc Bangalore PhD Eligibility Criteria:


(a)Holders of Master’s degree or its equivalent in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/Computer Applications/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture/ Humanities.

(b) Holders of Master’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Architecture.

(c)Holders of Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in Engineering/Technology/ Medicine/ Architecture/ Biotechnology/ Pharmacy/ Veterinary Science/ Agriculture.

 (d) Bachelor’s degree holders in Physics/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science /Electronics  followed by qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE as being equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

 (e)Holders of MBA or its equivalent subsequent to BE/B Tech, for admission to the department of Management Studies only.

Qualifying in one of the following appropriate Tests (with validity) is mandatory : CSIR-UGC NET for JRF; or UGC-NET for JRF; or DBT JRF; or ICMR JRF; or JEST; or NBHM ; or IISc Entrance Test ; or GATE or INSPIRE fellows (for Ph D).

The selection of candidates for admission to research programs is by an interview to be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore

Indian Institutes of Management offer excellent opportunties for Phd aspirants seeking specialization in interdisciplinary education and research in management. These institutes are known and respected for their top quality research and resource faculty . IIM PhD admission is based on  past academic record and score in national level common admission tests like (CAT)/GMAT/GRE/GATE/UGC-JRF. However this varies depending upon qualification.

IIM PhD Eligibility Criteria:


a)A Masters Degree in any discipline, with at least 55 percent marks, with a Bachelors degree/ equivalent qualification with at-least 50 percent marks obtained after a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.

(OR)

b)Five year/four year Integrated Masters Degree programme in any discipline, with atleast 55 percent marks, obtained after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent

 (OR)

c)A professional qualification like CA, ICWA, CS, with at least 55 percent marks.

(OR)

d)A 4-year/8-semester Bachelors degree with at least 60 percent marks or equivalent grade point average.

IIM PhD Selection Procedure:


The admission process consists of the nationally administered COMMON ADMISSION TEST (CAT)/GMAT/GRE/GATE/UGC-JRF(varies for different areas), past academic performance, perfomance in the interview.

National Institutes of Technology are a preferred option for aspirants wishing to pursue Phd in Engineering and other allied disciplines.

NIT's are also known for undertaking sponsored research,development programmes and projects from public and private sector corporations. NIT PhD Admission is conducted for full time and part time programmes. Candidates with valid GATE score or NET qualification are eligible to apply for NIT PhD program.

NIT PhD Eligibility Criteria:


M. Tech./ M.E  in relevant discipline with at least 6.5 CGPA or 60 percent marks in aggregate

A valid GATE score/ NET qualification as per MHRD norm for eligibility of fellowship is mandatory for candidates not having M. Tech./ M. E. degree

IIT PhD Admission is accepted all throughout the year but  are processed twice a year ie Autum Semester (July) and Spring Semester (January). The objective of IIT PhD programmes is to enable learners and researchers to make use of the best opportunities to study exciting areas of scientific research.  PhD aspirants from diverse academic disciplines  are encouraged to take up cutting edge technological research that offers something original to the world of knowledge. IIT PhD Admission is done on the basis of valid GATE/CEED score or fellowship or related work experience in the field.

IIT PhD Eligibility Criteria:


Master’s degree in Science or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent, with   First   class   or   60%   marks   (55%   marks   for   SC/ST).   For   admission   in   the   Department   of Humanities and Social Sciences and in the Industrial Design Centre, the percentage requirement is 55% marks or equivalent (50% for SC/ST). Candidates meeting this requirement must   also fulfill ONE of the  following additional requirements :

•Valid GATE/CEED Score
•CSIR/UGC/NBHM / DBT / DST Inspire Award or Fellowship.
•Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience, for Sponsored (SW) / Self­ Financed (SF) /Institute Staff (IS) category.
• Minimum 6 months project  work experience in IIT Bombay, for Project  Staff (PS) category

IIT PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection will be based on Written Test and Interview.

A candidate seeking registration for IGNOU Research Degree Programmes (MPhil/PhD) must hold a Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline/area or other equivalent qualification.

The candidate should have secured at least 55% marks in the Master’s Degree (50% for Reserved Category).

IGNOU PhD Selection Procedure:


Selection will be based on Entrance Examination conducted on all- India basis at examination centers located in various regions.

Candidates holding Master’s Degree with 55% (50% for Reserved Category) and MPhil/UGC -NET/SLET/JESTof DAE/GATEof IIT or equivalent examination or have Professional/Work Experience as prescribed by the discipline may be exempted from the entrance examination.
