Objective of TOEFL: The objective of TOEFL is to accurate measure how a student can read, listen, speak and write in English in foreign university college or university.

Important Dates for TOEFL Test:


There are no important dates such for TOEFL exam. You can take the test anytime during the year by contacting TOEFL Regional office in your area and scheduling your TOEFL Test.

Eligibility for TOEFL: There is no eligibility as such for TOEL. This test is open to candidates properly regardless of race, color creed or national origin.

How to apply: Candidates wishing to apply for TOEFL can do so online, by online or in person.

STEP 1    Online registration: Online registration is the best way to register for TOEFL. You are required to create a login ID and once this is done you can register for the test. You are required to enter personal details in the online application form. Application fee for TOEFL exam can be made through credit card or debit card. You can register seven days before taking test.

STEP 2    Phone registration: You are first required to fill application form. After this you are require to telephone your nearest TOELF center and spell out your details carefully. Payment of application fee can be done through online payment gateway and also through debit card or credit card. Candidates are require to register during office hours, that is by 05:00 pm.

STEP 3    Registration in person: Registration for TOEFL can also be done in person. This mode of application is accepted by select regional offices.

TOEFL application/registration fee: The registration fee for TOELF test is $ 550 (Five hundred and fifty US dollars).

TOEFL Paper Pattern:


• Sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing
• Duration: 4 ½  Hours (270 minutes)
• Section wise paper pattern:

Section: Reading

1. Duration= 60 to 80 minutes
2. Number of Questions: 36 to 56 questions.
3. Objective: Answer questions from the given passages for comprehension.

Section: Listening

1. Duration: 60 to 90 questions
2. Number of Questions: 35 to 51 questions
3. Objective: ability to listen to lecture, participate in class room discussion and answer questions.

Section: Speaking

1. Duration: 20 minutes
2. Topics: 06
3. Objective: ability to speak on a topic based on listening and reading tasks.

Section: Writing:

1. Duration: 50 minutes.
2. Topics:2
3. Objective: Essay writing.

TOEFL marking scheme:
Candidates are judged on scale of 0 to 120 points. The minimum marking scale for each section is 0 to 30 points. The score meter for the paper based test is 310 to 677 points.

Himachal Pradesh SET 2014 Exam Dates | Notification | Pattern

Himachal Pradesh SET is an entrance assessment administered by the Himachal Pradesh State Public Service Commission (HPSPC) for candidates wishing to apply for lectureship in college and universities in the state. HPSET as it is also known is patterned on the National Eligibility Test (NET) for lectureship. However, the only difference between the two tests being that HPSET is only for recruitment to lecturer post and not for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). This exam is conducted in 20 subject specializations. HPSET passed candidates securing the minimum passing mark can apply for lecturer posts in colleges and university in Himachal Pradesh.

Eligibility for HPSET 2014:

• Educational Qualification: Masters degree (post graduation or equivalent examination) in any discipline from recognized university.
• Aggregate:-

a) 55 percent in case of general category candidates.
b) 50 percent in case of reserved and disabled category candidates.

• Applicants who are appearing for qualifying exam are eligible to apply for SET provided they attain the minimum educational qualification.

Himachal Pradesh SET Paper Pattern:


HPSET paper pattern contains three sections with multiple choice questions

•Section I is of 100 marks which contain 60 questions out of it 50 are to be attempted. Time allotted for solving the paper is 1 hr 15 min.
• Section II is of 100 marks containing 50 questions to be solved in 75 mins.
• Section III is of 150 marks comprising of 75 questions to be solved in 2 hr 30 min.

Criteria for Declaration of HPSET Result:

CBSE UGC NET is important for aspirants who wish to take up career in academic or research. This paper-pen based National Eligibility Test (NET) exam directed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is accepted for  recruitment of  Assistant Professors and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in universities and colleges in India. This exam tests the capability of postgraduates for award of Junior Research Fellowships and Lecturership in the following research disciplines:- 

• Humanities (including languages)

• Forensic Science
• Environmental Science
• Computer Science and Applications
• Electronic Sciences

CBSE UGC NET is conducted twice a year in the months of June and December respectively. CBSE will conduct NET in 79 subjects at 89 selected NET Coordinating Institutions in India 2015.

CBSE UGC NET 2015 Exam Pattern:- 


CBSE UGC NET 2015 exam consists of three papers. The first two papers would be conducted in the first session and the third paper in the second session. While Paper I of the exam will be of general nature, Papers II and III will be of objective type based on the subjects selected by aspirants.

Eligibility for CBSE UGC NET 2014-15:- 

Age:- 

a) The maximum age for Junior Research Fellowship JRF (NET) 2014 is 28 years
b) There is no upper age limit for LS (NET) exam. 

Educational Qualification:- 

• NET applicants must have secured atleast 55 percent marks in Masters degree from UGC recognized institution or university in Humanities, Social Sciences, Computer Science and applications, electronics. (Minimum aggregate for SC/ST candidates is 50 percent).
• Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing for Master degree examination and those who results are delayed or awaited are also eligible to apply for NET exam. The minimum aggregate in terms of percentage for these candidates is 55 percent (45 percent in case of SC/ST candidates). Such candidates are required to complete the requirements of PG degree examination within two years of the date of NET Result. 
•Ph.D. degree holders whose Master level examination has been completed by September 19, 1991 are eligible for a 05 percent relaxation in the minimum percentage (50 percent in case of 55 percent). 
• SC/ST category candidates are required to submit attested copy of category certificates along with their CBSE UGC NET 2014 online application form. 
• Applicants with a post graduate degree or diploma certificate awarded by indian university/institute or foreign degree/diploma awarded by a foreign university are required to ascertain the equivalence of degree/diploma or certificate with Masters degree awarded by recognized universities from Association of India Universities (AIU) New Delhi.

Paper-I shall be of general nature. Paper I is intended to assess teaching/research aptitude of NET 2015 aspirants. This paper will contain sections of reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Sixty (60) multiple choice questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any fifty (50). If you attempt more than 50 questions that the first 50 questions attempted by you will be evaluated. 

Paper- II shall consist of 50 objective type compulsory questions based in the subjects selected by you. Each question will carry two marks. 

Paper III will consist of 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subjects selected by you. Each question will carry two marks. 

All questions of Paper-II and Paper-III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
